Service Description

Mugs are said to be the gateway to making pottery, let’s make a mug together. Follow Connie’s method, in this step by step workshop: roll out a slab of clay approximately 1/4” thick x 4.5” x 10.75”, texture or carve it to create an interesting design, angle the edges, smooth the top, and roll it around a cardboard tube. Join at the seam, add a round bottom, stretch out the mug with a wooden spoon to give it more volume and add a handle. At the end of the day you pick a glaze, leave it with us; we will fire it in the kiln and let you know when to come pick it up. It might sound simple, but we promise there will be a little bit of a challenge, you will have fun and when you return for your next workshop, your mugs get better (and trust us, you will return). You don’t handle the clay as much because you know what you are doing. Connie love’s when students enjoy the challenge of making hand built mugs and she loves getting to know students when they come back to improve and learn new techniques.
